St. Patrick’s Day Cupcakes & Milkshakes

Here at The Mint Sweater, we love any excuse to get together with the girls and enjoy some quality girl talk time with a few homemade treats! This year we decided to make St. Patrick’s Day Cupcakes & Milkshakes using lucky charm marshmallows!

Last year we made a St. Patrick’s Day Lucky Charm Cake, and this year we use that same recipe to make cupcakes.

Today, on the blog we are sharing how you can create these fun St. Patrick’s Day inspired cupcakes and milkshakes to make with your friends this lucky holiday.

The trick to making fun and festive cupcakes (and milkshakes too!) is finding tasty and decorative toppings. Sprinkles can be found nearby at your local Target or Michaels. As for the marshmallows, definitely purchase the Lucky Charm Cereal (this year they had a special edition) ahead of time and separate the marshmallows from the cereal.

Our best tip: Allow the girls to decorate their own cupcakes and shakes for some good ol’ quality time together.

Some of our favorite toppings:

Sugar Sprinkles (light green, dark green)

Lucky Charms Marshmallows

Cotton Candy

Crushed Caramel Sprinkles

Gold Rock Candy

For the girls we decided to spoil them good!

So instead of just making cupcakes, we added homemade milkshakes to the mix.

Milkshakes

We made two kinds of milkshakes. One, a traditional vanilla milkshake. The other, we took a traditional vanilla milkshake and instead of using plain milk, we let some of the lucky charm cereal marshmallows soak in the milk first to give it that vibrant green color. With the marshmallows still in the milk we pour it over vanilla ice cream and blended! Yumm.

Milkshake tip: make it minty by using mint chocolate chip ice cream or by adding a couple drops of peppermint essential oils (or fresh mint).

Milkshake rims:

To really make the milkshakes festive we decorate the rims of our glasses using cupcake icing. Over the icing we either used sugar to create a sugar rim or the lucky charms cereal marshmallows.

Holidays are the perfect excuse to host a date with the girls. Making cupcakes and milkshakes are a great way to enjoy a homemade treat and spend time together.

We hope these cupcakes and milkshakes inspire you to host a get together with your girls and allow these entertaining and delicious treats spoil your girls.
